Well it feels like we are in the home stretch with Old Savannah; she has paint on all of her walls and Cunningham Contractors are finishing up the moldings in our renovated rooms. Bathroom fixtures are being installed. Light fixtures hung. And these are just the interior features!!
We put some finishing details on the exterior of the home, as well. We put a fresh coat of paint on our lamp post & also installed a new mailbox (replacing the original fire engine mailbox). Another huge exterior change was replacing the steel security storm door with a full view Andersen storm door. Not only is it beautiful, it also allows so much light into the foyer. This is the best before picture I can find,
We went to our favorite nursery (McAllisters Greenhouse http://mcallistergreenhouses.com) and began picking out some shrubs to soften the outside of the house. This place is the Mecca of Landscaping-they have acres and acres of greenhouses and if they don’t have what you are looking for, they will get it!!! We purchased boxwoods and gardenia bushes, both evergreens and low maintenance. Gardenias are one our favorites, they are so fragrant and can be enjoyed while sitting on the front porch or as fresh cuttings inside the house.
One of our last exterior enhancements is one you would never notice, but is most important to the efficiency and comfort of this home. We had a vapor barrier installed throughout the crawl space as well as ‘tuned up’ the insulation. Vapor barriers have several benefits including moisture control, reducing mold and mildew growth in the crawlspace, not to mention they provide a clean appearance to the space. We replaced missing insulation from our HVAC, electrical, & plumbing work done in the crawlspace. This helps ensure the home is as energy efficient for the new owners.
This week to-do’s: finishing moldings, electric, plumbing, granite installation, and complete the landscape. Stay tuned for the transformation!!!
