Hopefully you were as productive this week, as we were! We made great progress at Old Savannah and even allowed ourselves time to find another property. But let’s start with our ‘first born’, Old Savannah.
This week, we ordered bathroom vanities (which will be in within 2 weeks). We also had the exterior of the house painted. We converted from brick with blue trim & shutters, to brick with white trim & black shutters. Oh what a difference this makes-as I mentioned in my last post, you can see the moldings now!!
It wasn’t just about the exterior, this week. Our hardwoods arrived this week. You may be asking why we needed hardwoods after unveiling the beautiful white oak under the green shag carpet? Well if you recall, there was tile in the foyer & that gorgeous low pile carpet in the kitchen/breakfast room.
We are making a cohesive flooring statement in the house and converting both of these spaces to hardwoods. This will update the look and help the flow in the spaces around. This house is going to look fabulous!!!
We hope you have a great weekend and look forward to giving you the latest updates, next week!!!
We have had a busy week at Old Savannah, things are starting to really move along. The Sheetrock is hung, the bathroom tiles have been selected, and exterior paint should be going up this weekend.
Cunningham Contractors started this week. Their focus was to hang all of the Sheetrock in the family room and kitchen, to make it one cohesive space. The best part about the Sheetrock going up was the amount of light it brought into the back of the house! See before & after
Below is our Sheetrock Magician, Kevin Cunningham, from Cunningham Contractors.
We took a trip to the Home Depot to scope out bathroom tile ideas. We did a poll on Facebook & Instagram to help decide on the best combination. What do you think?
What’s your vote??! We will give you the weekend to think about it!! 😉
Have a great weekend & stay cool!
Hopefully you are surviving this heat! We have been trying to minimize our outside work, and when we are out, we try to limit it to the morning before the inferno cranks up. The heat paired with the humidity, here in the south, can be immeasurable.
Good news is, we have plenty of work to do inside . . . and with our HVAC adjustments made, we have the air conditioning cranked up Continue reading “Heat Wave!”
We have been a bit quiet this week. Lots of little tasks being checked off the list, here at Old Savannah.
We wrapped up the electrical, relocating outlets and getting the kitchen wired. P.S. the kitchen cabinets are being delivered today-SO EXCITED!!!
We have done some pressure washing outside, getting the exterior ready for it’s paint job.
We also had the HVAC folks move some duct work to align better with the new layout.
New Sheetrock has replaced the textured ceilings in the public rooms. We should have a picture ready for our next blog post.
Now we just wait for the electrical inspection so we can begin sheetrocking the family room & kitchen. Then you will really start to notice the progress!!!
Finally, the most notable change in the week (and sign that we are closing the demo chapter)…dumpster #2 was hauled off!!!
Hope you are having as productiveof a week as we are. Check back in as interior progress should move much quicker now that demo & electrical are complete!!
Words cannot express the excitement we are feeling!!! Could hardly sleep, last night, because we officially closed on Old Savannah, yesterday!!!
So many ideas made for a night of little sleep. Home Depot must have known this, because after a quick meeting with them, last week, they already have a first pass at the kitchen.
Remember? Gold countertops . . . green carpet (trying to be linoleum) . . . 1970’s wallpaper.
Well, here is a first pass and where our head is:
Look at that update- it already looks better and this is just a CAD!!!!!

Next step . . . demo . . . stay tuned.
